Night on Broadway 2016 - Instant

Yesterday night we headed back to downtown LA for the 2016 Night on Broadway Event! Part of the revitilization of Broadway in downtown LA, this event opens up some of the old movie theaters to the public with tons of free entertainment and bits of art inbetween. It seems like the word was out this year as the event seemed way busier than last year. There were a few theaters we wanted to go to, but the lines were so long we decided to forgo them and explore things we could more easily access.

I took along my Fuji Neo-Classic along and shot 10 photos of which 9 came out pretty well. I was really enjoying some of the special Neo-Classic features including no flash, multiple exposures and bulb exposures. All of these effects are done through the camera, not in post-scanning phases! I saw a few others with instax cameras throughout the night (and a few other 35mm cameras!) too, including one of the art pieces that had a series of in-progress photos pinned up next to it! Go film!

Instant CSUN Sunset

All shot while walking through the Cal State University Northridge, or CSUN, campus during sunset yesterday with some friends on the way to dinner with the Fuji Instax Neo-Classic camera.

After showing these photos to a friend that was there, he replied to me "I didn't know all that stuff was on our walk." The magic of a camera!

Carlsbad Caverns abstraction

I was just looking through some photos, trying to find some stuff to submit and I came across this roll from Carlsbad Caverns that I never posted (which is better than the ones that I've yet to scan or the ones I haven't developed yet!) This was a pretty awesome roll because this was it was only the second roll of medium format film that I ever shot. This trip to Carlsbad Caverns and New Mexico in general is the one that got me back into film photography after a bit of a hiatus and got me to try out medium format for the first time! And now... now it's not uncommon for me to have 2 or 3 or more different film cameras on me at one time.

Anyway, I really love the photos of Carlsbad Caverns in black and white......

A Tale of 2 Valley Mornings

Yesterday my morning bike ride included a colorful (although sadly due to pollution) sunrise.... the next day, at the same exact time, the entire sky was covered in a thick blanket of fog... what a different 24 hours makes.....
