29 Faces - Feb 2017 04

Alright! It's the last day of February and I have completed all 29 faces! I made faces on 21 of out 28 days, which is pretty good for me. I'm not happy with all the faces, but I did get some pretty awesome ones out of this month. I was less about the specific technique than I was about getting the faces done and mostly making them all fit in a single book. I'm glad I did it and I'm glad it's over :) As usual, I've been surprised at how I can make semi-realistic faces if I so choose (because often, I choose not to). Some make me kinda irritated and angry, some make me kinda sad I put them in a book. Always a learning experience either way!

#20-29 !!!!!!

I had some cardstock scraps on my table and decided to try to make faces out of them. Pretty happy with the results.

Both faces and the backgrounds are blacklight reactive

The rest of the 29 faces from this month and previous attempts!

A few shots from walking around in Chicago last week with my Fuji Instax neo classic.
I was enjoying the lines....

Olbrich Gardens Instants

I recently found myself in Madison, Wisconsin for the first time visiting a friend I hadn't seen in a very long time. Although I had heard stories of Madison from her, I don't know if I still really knew what to expect when visiting in the middle of winter (I also visited Michigan for the first time in the winter a few years back.) Although winter wasn't in full swing, the lakes were still frozen, there were still piles of dirty snow all over and the plants were still all naked and brown. Knowing I'm a fellow nature lover, my friend took me to see Olbrich Gardens where there's a large dome of summery green warmness year around, even when the lakes across the street are frozen. I shot a few photos with my instax camera...

29 Faces - Feb 2017 03

Still chugging along! A little behind as I started missing some days, but I still am trying to (and not that far behind) finish all of the faces by the end of the month! I think that would be a first! This post gets me up to 19 (still have more I haven't scanned!!)

Weird day:
ended up spending time with people vs. sitting alone arting,
random guy kept talking to me at airport, resulting in
fast, quick drawing on baggage claim ticket.

left: single line drawing
right: finger painting with gouache

remembering that I like painting with gouache, a lot

29 Faces Feb 2017 - 2 / Monthly Visitors

29 faces and my Monthly Visitors Series meet!! The result is..... pretty much exactly what I've been doing all along! But it's good....I'm actually excited that I'm getting better at painting with the menstrual blood. It's definitely it's own challenge.....

#7

#8 This is the first day I really had NO desire to work on a face, but hey, I still did it!....

#9 - the color on this one will still change a bit...

29 Faces - Feb 2017 01

Another year of 29 faces! This time I'm trying to actually do a face every day. I'm doing well so far with 6 faces completed in 5 days, but we'll see. I'm not going to be at my place for a little while this month and I'm planning for it with a variety of mobile supplies and a single notebook that I'm trying to make everything in, but we'll see. I'm trying very hard to do something every day for the sake of gaining something a little different from this project this time, even if it means sometimes doing something a little more rough or just forcing myself to do something even though I'm not feeling inspired.

6 - woke up early this morning and thought about making my face and decided against it. By the time the evening came, I realized I still hadn't done anything and wasn't that inspired. I just started grabbing things that were immediately available. Not my favorite, but I did something it, so yay!
