Descanso Gardens Spring, part 2

In some ways, the petals of the California Poppy remind me of Ginko leaves. When I lightly touched the underside of the poppies, I was surprised at how cool (temperature wise) the petals were.

Index doodles

I recently picked up a 59 cent package of blank index cards for doodling. After I was doodling on a piece of paper that I was also taking notes on during a meeting at work, I somehow ended up with a paper of doodles from a coworker and another coworker took my paper (with doodles & notes) and passed it to the doodle giving coworker. I protested and my paper was ripped in half and I got my notes back. I realized that something as simple as index cards would help alleviate this cross usage. So that's where I am.

Although I love the Pigma micron pens, I do sometimes wish there were more colors available. Then I discovered the Stabilo 88 fineline markers, which come in 30 colors. My mantra for pens is usually the thinner the tip the better, so the Stabilo 88's at .4mm are a compromise for the color variety in this manner, but they're still pretty nice. I approve! Also, considering you can get a set of 25 for under $15, they're also relatively cheap.

Anyway, that was a really long way of saying that I've been doodling on index cards with Stabilo fineline markers! Here's the first few cards in which I repeatedly explore the circle...:

Descanso Gardens Spring, part 1

For my birthday this year we took a trip to Descanso Gardens. Although I am sure it's beautiful in different ways throughout the year, we happened to make the trip while the cherry blossoms were still blooming. It was an enjoyable way to spend the day wandering around outside and enjoying some variety in nature. They have all sorts of paths and little places to sit and relax in the shade. For only $9 a person, it's also a relatively cheap way entertain yourself for an afternoon on an early spring day.

10 on 10 - April 2014

I decided to do something a little different this time for a 10 on 10 and tried to get an unobstructed view of the sky each hour. Surprisingly, the sky started out super clear and then became overcast throughout the day.  I like the result in showing the variation that I notice, but don't always document. Of course things were reversed this day - recently the sky has mostly been overcast in the morning and then clears up in the afternoon.
